We believe that a healthy, well-exercised dog is a happy dog - hence our name, Active Waggers. With that in mind we strive to provide so much more than a pee break and a walk around the block. All of our walks/runs/hikes are set to a vigorous pace unless you tell us otherwise, with the aim to maximize your dog's time outside.

We provide services in Winchester and Arlington Heights. Pick up service is free if you live within 2 miles of Winchester. An additional $5.00 is charged if you live further away.

Do I need to commit to a certain number of walks/runs/hikes per week?

You do not have to commit to a weekly service. Your dog can be exercised as much or as little as you want per week. However, given the small number of dogs we can take on, you may need to be flexible about the service time requested so we can accommodate our more regular customers. Please note that dog hikes are normally conducted in the mornings, but please inquire if you desire an alternate time.

Walks typically take place in your neighborhood. However, if we happen to have more than one dog for that service time, then they may be transported (free of charge) to the other dog's neighborhood. Transportation time may exceed the total walk time but there is no additional charge. We can also walk your dog in the wooded trails.

Depending upon where you live we will conduct our runs either on pavement or in a wooded area such as the Middlesex Fells or the Arlington Meadows.

Depending upon where you live we will conduct our hikes in a wooded area where off-leash dogs are allowed. Please note that dog hikes are normally conducted in the mornings, but please inquire if you desire an alternate time.

If your dog is good off-leash with you then we can slowly introduce off-leash walking over a number of visits. All off-leash walking must occur in a wooded area where this is permissible.

Will my dog be exercised with other dogs?

Your dog will likely be exercised with other dogs. Both Active Waggers owners have labs. If your dog does not socialize well with other dogs, we can arrange independent walks on a case-by-case basis.

Will my dog be boarded with other dogs?

If you choose the boarding option then your dog may be with other dogs. Both Active Waggers owners have labs. Occasionally we board other dogs at the same time.

Can I board my dog even if I am not a dog walking customer?

We can board your dog even if you do not use Active Waggers regularly. However, since we do not board more than one dog at a time, preference is given to current customers.

Do you provide in-home dog sitting?

If you want to have your dog remain at home we can discuss an agreed upon number of visits to ensure your dog's needs taken care of in your abscence. Unfortunately we cannot stay overnight due to the small size of our company and own family commitments.

Will my dog be exercised by the same person every time?

Most likely your dog will have the same person each time, but there will be times when one of us will have to substitute for the other. We will let you know when this happens.

What if the weather is bad?

Unless there is a snow storm or hurricane, we will be there rain or shine, sleet or snow.

What if I need to cancel a service?
